Will County Young Republicans Under New Leadership – Brandon Harris of Joliet is the new Chairman
The Will County Young Republicans now have a new Chairman, Brandon Harris, 29, of Joliet IL. The organization has been under the leadership of Cornel Darden Jr. since its revival in late 2017. After a great revival and build-up, Cornel Darden Jr. felt with other commitments, it was time to pass the torch. When asked about Brandon Harris, Darden Jr. stated, “ When it comes to the Will County Young Republicans and time, effort, and commitment, no one is more deserving then Brandon. We all put in work and I can tell you he will lead our team in the right direction.”
Brandon Harris a long-standing community member and political advocate, and comes to the table with years of experience. Starting at the age of 10, he worked as a kid putting signs in frames, and alongside current and past leaders in our community, including former congressman Jerry Weller and Laurie McPhillips in her winning run for County Recorder of Deeds. At that time, Brandon’s mother Melissa Chovan was also the Vice Chairman of the Will County Young Republicans. Now almost 19 years later, Brandon Harris has over 19 years in the local party in one shape or form.
When asked about his plans for the future of the Will County Young Republicans, Brandon Harris stated, “I want to present my G.R.O.W.T.H. plan, and as a young community leader, I feel that by developing within the community and bringing our young people in we can make a real difference. Now with 2020 ahead, only time will tell what this new leadership will bring.
